Weight Loss

The weight is over!

Maybe you have been a serial dieter or have family and/or friends who are continually trying to lose weight and keep it off. This is a life long struggle for many while for others they seem to stay slender effortlessly.

One the key components to making weight loss easy is having an Eating Strategy. To be successful in weight loss you must have 3 successful relationships with:

  • Yourself – being confident in your own skin, how to respond to different situations
  • Food – What you eat, how you eat
  • Exercise and movement – motivation and how to go about it

There are many reasons for weight gain and also the same as to why its so hard to lose. Some people overeat when they are unhappy or stressed because it’s a simple way to have some dependable pleasure in life. Other people eat well but don’t exercise enough to maintain their desired weight. Some people don’t have a good way to respond to advances from the opposite sex and therefore remain overweight to avoid such situations.

Sometimes it can be about learned patterns of behaviour from when you were a young child. For me, it was ‘you didn’t leave the table until all our meal was finished’ and then of course you may then have dessert!! Other examples are giving children lollies whilst on a road trip to keep them quiet, when upset the child is soothed by the lure of chocolate etc – using food as a reward.

These patterns are located deep within your unconscious mind therefore dealing with these issues are best done through hypnosis as this is the way to communicate directly with your unconscious.

With our Naturally Slender Eating Program, you will be able to change your unconscious patterns and habits easily and once your unconscious has learned new ways, ways that serve you better as the person you are today, it will also assist you in your easy weight loss and weight control. Hypnosis for weight loss is incredibly powerful since it can deal and remove those self sabotaging behaviours so you can have the easy weight loss you want. And this time around, thanks to the relaxing and comfortable state of hypnosis, you will also find the weight easy to release and control.

Virtual Gastric Band Program

Be a Shape Shifter – not a weight watcher!

The Virtual Gastric Band is a remarkable weight loss program pioneered by Sheila Granger in the UK.  This program utilises the concept of a ‘Virtual’ Gastric Band and clinical hypnotherapy.  Many people of all shapes and sizes find long term solutions to their weight problems with Virtual Gastric Band therapy.

How does Virtual Gastric Band therapy work?

Virtual Gastric Band is a non-surgical technique using the power of hypnosis to train your mind and body to accept less food. It is like ‘flicking a switch in the brain’. It changes your attitude towards food and helps you regain control over cravings and bad habits. Results show increased willpower and no need for you to deprive yourself of the foods you enjoy.  Weight is lost naturally and consistently without dieting.

The program is very safe and delivers predictable results that carry ZERO risk and has a 90-95% success rate.  Whether it’s someone wanting to lose 5kg or another wanting to lose 50kg this program is suitable for almost anyone.

The most important difference about the Virtual Gastric Band in comparison to the actual gastric band (also known as lap band) is that the virtual version deals with the issues in a person’s mind and their relationship with food.  Having a foreign body inside their stomach simply does not deal with the psychological factors.

What can I expect?

The insertion of a hypnotic gastric band is done through the insertion of well-chosen and easily acceptable suggestions into your powerful unconscious mind. There is no actual surgery, no real anesthetic and no physical objects placed inside your body. Everything is done through the power of your imagination in a relaxed and comfortable state of mind very much like daydreaming. It is a natural state of mind that people drift into throughout their day regardless of whether a hypnotist was present or not.

During hypnotic gastric band surgery, you will just fully immerse yourself into the experience and let your mind create a powerful virtual experience that will give you a very real sense and feeling that your stomach has been restricted in size.

Your body will know that eating smaller portion sizes will get you the result that you want and if you eat portion sizes that are too large your body will give you sensations to let you know that this is not what you do anymore.

The aim of this approach is just the same as real surgery – to have you restrict and limit portion sizes so that you can eat little and often.

The advantages of this approach are numerous. Cost, time, comfort, safety, enjoying life are just a few of the obvious reasons as to why allowing yourself to experience the virtual gastric band is worth your time and energy.

You will need to work with the program not against it. Just as if a medical patient was undergoing surgery to have a real gastric band inserted there would be both psychological and emotional assessments to undertake first. You would also be required to make changes in lifestyle to support the surgery including increased movement and exercise and a safe reduction of food intake.

What it’s not?

  • NO diet
  • NO shakes
  • NO deprivation
  • NO counting calories
  • NO pills
  • NO costly invasive surgery
  • NO liquid foods
  • NO recovery time
  • NO pain
  • NO needles
  • NO surgical risks
  • NO side effects

What are the benefits?

  • Be free from thinking about food all the time because you are not feeling deprived, miserable or hungry
  • Feel in control rather than food controlling you
  • Eat consciously and listen to what your stomach is telling you rather than your mind
  • Form new, healthy habits that you can maintain
  • Be undertaken quickly and privately, without lengthy delay of hospital waiting lists
  • No costly invasive surgery
  • No risks

What’s involved?

There are four individual sessions tailored for you specifically over 4-6 weeks which are designed to bring about permanent change in your eating habits. You will be expected to follow some simple guidelines and receive support materials to take home.  Note:  There may be a requirement for an additional two sessions if there is an issue and/ or belief that is keeping a person ‘stuck’.

There are also ongoing support program packages available to suit your needs.

The ‘gastric band’ is here to support your weight loss goals and to make them easier for you to achieve but at the end of the day losing weight requires eating less and moving more.

Remember that the purpose of Virtual Gastric Band Surgery, is to make the stomach feel full quickly so that you restrict portion size and therefore eat less and lose weight.

I’m really looking forward to discussing this amazing program with you and work with you so you can become the YOU, you want to be!

Phobias and Fears

A phobia is a persistent, intense and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels you to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous. Common phobias and fears include:

  • Animal phobias. Examples include fear of snakes, fear of spiders, fear of rodents, and fear of dogs.
  • Natural environment phobias. Examples include fear of heights, fear of storms, fear of water, and fear of the dark.
  • Situational phobias (fears triggered by a specific situation). Examples include fear of enclosed spaces (claustrophobia), fear of flying, fear of driving, fear of tunnels, and fear of bridges.
  • Blood-Injection-Injury phobia. The fear of blood, fear or injury, or a fear of needles or other medical procedures.
  • Social phobias. The fear of public speaking, eating/drinking in public, talking to strangers, taking exams, mingling at a party, being called on in class. If you have social phobia you may be excessively self-conscious and afraid of humiliating yourself in front of others.
  • Agoraphobia. The fear of open spaces, fear of having a panic attack and become anxious about being in situations where escape would be difficult or embarrassing or where help wouldn’t be immediately available.

People can develop phobias about virtually anything and most phobias develop in childhood, however they can also develop in adults. Other phobias include fear of choking, fear of getting a disease such as cancer and a fear of clowns.

If you have a phobia, you probably recognise that your fear is unreasonable, yet you still can’t control your feelings. Just even thinking about the feared object or situation may make you anxious and when you’re actually exposed to the thing you fear, the terror is automatic and overwhelming.

The experience is so nerve-wracking and sometimes so paralysing that you may go to great lengths to avoid it therfore inconveniencing yourself and/or even changing your lifestyle. If you have claustrophobia, for example, you might turn down a lucrative job offer if you have to ride the elevator to get to the office. If you have a fear of heights, you might drive an extra twenty kilometers in order to avoid a tall bridge or a fear of flying may stop you from being able to attend important meetings and/or see clients.

Understanding your phobia is the first step to overcoming it. It’s important to know that phobias are common. Having a phobia doesn’t mean you’re a crazy person! It also helps to know that phobias are highly treatable. You can overcome your anxiety and fear, no matter how out of control it feels.

The main difference between a fear and a phobia is that fear is a normal reaction and is in fact one of our defence mechanisms and is helpful in dangerous situations. It serves the purpose of protection, activating the automatic “fight-or-flight” response. Our bodies and minds automatically become alert and ready for action so we are able to respond quickly and protect ourselves. There are some things we should fear, so we can flee or avoid the situation. For example, it is normal to feel fear with a real threat. If someone is pointing a gun at you, it is logical to feel fear. The stimulus doesn’t have to be that drastic, either.  If we truly sense danger, fear is normal.

With phobias the threat is exaggerated, for example, it is natural to be afraid of a teeth baring Doberman dog whereas it is irrational to be absolutely terrified of a friendly poodle on a leash.

Difference between Fear and Phobias
Normal Fear Phobia
Feeling anxious when flying through turbulence or taking off during a storm Not going to your best friend’s island wedding because you’d have to fly there
Experiencing butterflies when peering down from the top of a skyscraper or climbing a tall ladder Turning down a great job because it’s on the 10th floor of the office building
Getting nervous when you see a pit bull or a Rottweiler Steering clear of the park because you might see a dog
Feeling a little queasy when getting a shot or when your blood is being drawn Avoiding necessary medical treatments or doctor’s checkups because you’re terrified of needles

With the help of hypnosis, hypnotherapy and NLP I can assist you overcome these problems so you can live the life you want and not be afraid or anxious anymore.

Insomnia

Insomnia in a nutshell is the inability to sleep. It is said to be present when you regularly find it hard to fall asleep or stay asleep. It has several patterns. You may have trouble getting to sleep initially or even if you can fall asleep, you might not be able to stay asleep for as long as you would like. Also you may wake up during the night and not be able to go back to sleep for a long time. Many people have two of the above problems or even all three. Because of these, you might feel tired during the day.

Most people have experienced insomnia symptoms at some time in their lives. At any given time around 10% of people have at least mild insomnia.

Older people with poor health have a higher risk. It is more prominent with women compared to men. This may be related to higher rates of anxiety and depression which can be associated with insomnia. Shift workers have a higher risk too.

Insomnia has many causes which can include:

  • Some medicines and drugs, eg; asthma or blood pressure medication, caffeine, alcohol or smoking
  • Chronic pain and other uncomfortable illnesses
  • Stress at work or in your personal life
  • Depression
  • A friend or loved one passing away
  • Anxiety and worrying, including worrying about not getting enough sleep
  • Body clock is out of sync
  • Another sleep problem

With hypnotherapy, hypnosis and NLP I can assist you to resolve the problems creating insomnia to allow you to sleep soundly, just like a baby. You know the old saying “You always feel better after a good night sleep”.

Sports Performance

One of the biggest barriers an athlete faces when it comes to their performance is their mind-set. With the help of hypnotherapy, hypnosis and NLP I can help you develop a winning mind-set. This includes getting to the core issues as to why you’re stuck, tripping up or sabotaging yourself which is stopping you from excelling. The unconscious mind is amazing and by using hypnosis it can have a resounding effect on your performance by changing negative self-defeating thoughts into positive expectations.

It’s time to not just be a good sports person, its time to excel! Push through those barriers to achieve the performance you are capable of.

Self Confidence

Self confidence is related to self esteem however they are not the same.

For example: Imagine, for a moment, you are at home sitting on the lounge and a letter has just been delivered. As soon as you see it you instantly become curious because it’s bright yellow and the writing on the front is handwritten and it has your name on it. You sit down and open the envelope to see what the letter says;

“Congratulations, you have been nominated by someone in your community to speak to a group of local children about your expertise. This is our way of inspiring a new generation of children to doing something meaningful in the future. If this is something you would like to do, please can you confirm at your earliest convenience”.

The difference between self-confidence and self-esteem can be explained by how you react to the letter.

If you had issues with self-confidence you would start thinking about the act of speaking in front of the children. You would question whether you could handle speaking in front of them. Irrespective of whether you had much experience with public speaking (competence), you would have doubt as to whether you could actually handle being at the front with everyone looking specifically at you, waiting for what you have to say.

If you had issues with self-esteem, you would start thinking about whether they had made a mistake and what you had of worth to the child of the local community. Irrespective of whether you had a successful career or what contribution to the community you had made, you would have doubts as to what you could provide of value. You would probably then begin to feel bad because you have deceived people into thinking you are more talented than you actually are.

If you have low self-confidence it is likely that your mind will be littered with thoughts that demean your true worth that can bring a feeling of low mood and a lack of desire to pursue anything that carries any form of risk.

With hypnotherapy, hypnosis and NLP we can work together to investigate whats happening and get rid of whatever is holding you back and create a more positive, powerful and confident belief system that works for you.

Self Esteem

Self-esteem is all about how you feel about yourself, your perception of yourself. The level of self-esteem is a result of social norms and what we believe ourselves to be. People who have high levels of self-esteem are comfortable in their own skin and are happy with what they see in the mirror.

Self-confidence is the certainty you have about your ability to do something. The level of self-confidence is usually a result of overcoming certain obstacles or working to improve a skill. Triumph in establishing these traits and skills builds on your confidence.

An individual can have high self-esteem, but low self-confidence and vice versa. It is common for one to affect the other. An individual with high self-confidence may realise his abilities and, as a result, see themselves as a stronger individual, increasing his self-esteem.

If you have low self-esteem it is unlikely you are going to be in the right mindset to confidently engage in a way that creates opportunities and possibilities for you. This is where our belief systems come into play.

The beliefs you have about yourself often appear to be statements of fact, although actually they’re really only an opinion, a distortion. They are based on the experiences you’ve had in life, and the messages that these experiences have given you about the kind of person you are. If your experiences have been negative or have been perceived as being negative, your beliefs about yourself are likely to be negative too.

Crucial experiences that help to form our beliefs about ourselves often (although not always) occur early in life. What you saw, heard and experienced in childhood, in your family, in the wider community and at school will have influenced the way you see yourself. Those very experiences could have led to you thinking badly of yourself. Sometimes negative beliefs about yourself are caused by experiences later in life, such as workplace bullying or intimidation, abusive relationships, persistent stress or hardship, or traumatic events.

Self limiting beliefs are usually formed in childhood, it is usually biased and inaccurate, because it is based on a child’s-eye view. It is likely to be formed on the basis of misunderstandings about experiences because you had no adult knowledge with which to understand properly what was going on. For example; A child is made to read in front of the class. He mucks it up and his friends laughed at him. He sits back down feeling embarrassed and humiliated. Twenty years later he still has a fear of public speaking.

Although these beliefs may be unhelpful or outdated now, they come from a time when they made perfect sense, given what you were experiencing at the time. As a child you didn’t know any better and therefore have taken those beliefs into your future.

With hypnotherapy, hypnosis and NLP we can work together to investigate what you see as reality. Though hypnosis we can give your unconscious updated information, get rid of those self limiting beliefs and replace them with a positive belief system that will allow you to be the person you want to be and live the life you want.

Depression

When you suffer from depression, it feels like nothing can ever help, and nothing will ever change…

That is what depression does to your thinking. It makes you feel certain that you can never feel happy again.

It drains the pleasure from things you used to enjoy, makes you see everything through grey-tinted glasses and eradicates hope and energy.

In short, depression is a parasite that feeds off your life.

But when you know how depression works; what it needs to sustain it, then you start to gain power over it and hope starts to sprout again.

I have been trained by Uncommon Knowledge in an approach to treating depression that focuses on getting you feeling better quickly.

The very first thing we will do in our session together is to ensure you understand why you are feeling this way. It has a lot to do with the levels of stress you are currently experiencing, which leads to physical as well as mental exhaustion.

Then I will work quickly to help you feel better by using deep relaxation with you. This is to prepare your brain to learn, because as you’ve probably noticed, depression makes it almost impossible to pay attention and retain information.

When you leave my clinic after that first session, I would expect you to feel better than you have in a long time.

But of course, depression doesn’t shift overnight.

In the following sessions, we will work together to:

  • reduce the amount of worrying and introspection you are doing
  • resolve any practical problems that are causing you stress
  • work on any relationship difficulties you may be having
  • help you balance your thinking so you are not plagued by negative thoughts
  • as you feel better, gradually introduce elements to your life that will protect you from becoming depressed again

Depression can make you feel hopeless.

But there is hope, and I think I can help, so please give me a call on 0448 210 910 and I can tell you anything else you need to know.
